In terms of value, you are probably right about Logic Pro, but I see it as a greater risk. IMO all the plugins that supposedly help you program drums, actually make it sound less real. It's not as simple as the right VST - but the way the samples play with the MIDI - the probability is just higher with EZD2. I'm not saying every EZX kit has a natural feeling either.

While EZDrummer 2 gives you a core library of around 3GB, Superior Drummer 3 offers 230GB of drum sounds and libraries. I don't really launch AD2, BFD3 or SSD5 anymore, even though some of those drums are incredible to listen too, just not necessarily to trigger. An obvious argument for wanting Superior Drummer 3 over EZDrummer 2 is that the breadth of sound libraries in SD3 is staggering. For me, only Toontrack seems to have that magic - at least available - for many of their kits. Once one removes all personal opinions on which VST sounds the best, one will always gravitate towards what feels the most natural in the drumsticks. I don't think it holds a candle to EZDrummer 2 tbh, but seriously after trying loads of different VSTs over the years, the most important bit hardly anybody talks about is how well they actually feel to play when triggering live. Everything Toontrack is brand new and up to date and the Product Manager says all is well. There could be a reason nobody is talking about Logic Drummer. Is there a known issue with loading certain kits? My system is extremely stable and isn’t prone to crashing at all. During playback even and didn’t experience a single hiccup. Last night I must have loaded the included kits about a hundred times across multiple projects without issue. Each kit provides a choice of two 60s snares, and all cymbals used are genuine 60s originals, including a rivet cymbal dating from 1963. I loaded a kit from the Hiphop Ex first and then tried to load a different kit…same exact crash again. The heart of ABBEY ROAD 60s DRUMS consists of two highly sought-after 60s drum kits: A Gretsch Round Badge White Marine Pearl kit (Jasper Shell) from the early 60s and a Ludwig Hollywood kit from 1967. Lost about an hour of constructive messing about. Today I ended up buying the Hiphop Expansion Kit and had been messing with it for a few hours when I decided to load one of the other included kits and wham! Crashed Nuendo and I had to quit application through task manager. This EZX simply bursts loud, reverberant rock from the onset and out ‘The Amber Kit,’ which represents a reproduction of the acrylic kit that John Bonham used during. I thought I might have made a mistake in not getting SD instead cause I like to tweak drums but once I started sending everything to separate Nuendo channels I was completely happy. Heavily inspired by Eddie Kramer’s work primarily with Led Zeppelin, all aspects of this EZX were designed to provide the ultimate source for instant classic rock gold the choice of drum kits, the presets and the MIDI. Had a blast replacing some shotty fake acoustic drums with the new goods and didn’t have a single issue for over 9 hours straight.

I got the Indie/Folk kit as my free expansion choice. Included with the compact drum kit is a 16×14 kick drum, 10×7 rack tom, 13×12 floor tom, and a matching 13×5.5 snare drum. When it comes to EZ, as mentioned the Dirk midis are pretty cool. These drums sing with a clear pitch and a great initial attack across the snare drum, toms, and kick drum. I've also got The Metal Foundry and it's great sounding, especially for metal.
